Cricket Tour Alert: Pakistan's Exciting Journey to South Africa in December-January

Confirmed by the cricket boards of both nations, Pakistan is set to travel to South Africa for a series comprising of two Test matches, three One-day Internationals, and an equal number of T20Is in the upcoming December-January period.

Durban, Centurion, and Johannesburg are set to host the T20I series from December 10 to 14, while the ODIs will take place in Paarl, Cape Town, and Johannesburg from December 17 to 22. The Test matches, integrated into the ICC World Test Championship cycle, will be held at Centurion from December 26 to 30 and Cape Town from January 3 to 7.

Pakistan's tour of South Africa aligns with the Future Tours Programme 2023-2027, with discussions between the Pakistan Cricket Board and Cricket South Africa initiating well before the finalization of the FTP. The tour schedule, announced recently, follows Pakistan's series against Australia from November 14 to 18.

Post the South Africa tour concluding on January 8, Pakistan will engage in a three-nation ODI tournament at home against New Zealand and South Africa. Subsequently, they will participate in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.

Before the Australia and South Africa tours, Pakistan will host Bangladesh and England for Test series, totaling seven Tests, a minimum of 10 ODIs, and six T20Is from August 2024 to January 2025.

Notably, there are no additional ODI fixtures planned to enhance Pakistan's preparation for the Champions Trophy, considering the limited scheduling window.

Meanwhile, South Africa's cricket calendar includes Tests against Sri Lanka in Durban and Gqeberha preceding Pakistan's arrival.

Unlike previous instances, there will be no overlap between Test series and Cricket South Africa's SA20 competition, crucial for its financial stability. This adjustment avoids a repeat of sending understrength squads, as witnessed earlier during the New Zealand Test series.

Additionally, the England women's team will embark on a comprehensive tour featuring T20 matches, ODIs, and a Test in Bloemfontein, enhancing the cricketing landscape with a diverse range of formats and competitions.
